The right battery is about more than a capacity number. We consider the system you already have, when you use electricity, what you want backed up, installation requirements and future plans before recommending the equipment and battery size.

Existing solar system
We assess your existing panels and inverter, how much solar the system generates and whether it can work effectively with the proposed battery.
Energy use after sunset
We look at how much electricity your home uses once solar generation drops away. This helps determine how much usable storage may be worthwhile.
Tariff and usage times
Time-of-use rates, feed-in tariffs and when electricity is cheapest or most expensive can influence how the battery should operate.
Backup expectations
Backup can be designed around your priorities—from essential services through to whole-home backup. Most battery systems we install offer whole-home backup, and we’ll explain what can operate simultaneously and whether any limitations apply during an outage.
Installation location
We plan the battery and associated equipment around available space, required clearances, weather exposure, access and neat cable routes. We’ll discuss the proposed location with you before the installation proceeds.
Future energy needs
EV charging, heat-pump hot water, pool equipment, air conditioning and other planned electrical loads can influence the battery capacity and system design.

Your electricity tariff can change how a battery works for you.

A battery can store excess solar for use after dark. Depending on your electricity plan and system capabilities, it may also charge when grid electricity is cheaper and supply the home during more expensive periods.

We consider your current tariff, feed-in rate and when your household uses electricity when designing and configuring the battery.

Straight answers about home battery storage.

Every home is different, but these answers cover some of the most common questions we hear when customers begin considering a battery.

Yes. Most battery systems we install can be designed to provide whole-home backup, while essential-services backup is also available. We’ll explain what can operate simultaneously, how long the available storage may last and whether any limitations apply during an outage.

In many cases, yes. We’ll assess your existing solar, inverter, electrical supply, available equipment location and energy goals before recommending the most suitable retrofit approach.

Battery size depends on how much electricity you use, when you use it, what you want backed up and your future plans. We’ll use this information to recommend a practical capacity rather than relying on a standard package.

When compatible backup equipment is included, the battery can automatically continue supplying the home or nominated circuits. Depending on the system design, your solar may also continue generating and recharging the battery during daylight hours.

Compatible battery systems detect a grid outage and switch to backup automatically—typically within milliseconds. Depending on the selected system and backup configuration, the changeover may be virtually unnoticeable, although some sensitive appliances may briefly restart. We’ll explain the expected changeover time for the system included in your proposal.

It depends on the battery’s available capacity and what is operating during the outage. Lighting, refrigeration and internet use much less energy than large loads such as air conditioning, cooking appliances or pool equipment. We’ll explain the expected backup capability as part of your proposal.

Some battery systems can be designed to integrate with a compatible generator, providing another source of energy during extended outages. Generator integration depends on the selected battery, gateway equipment and overall system design.

Depending on the electricity plan and system capabilities, a battery may charge when electricity is cheaper and supply the home during more expensive periods. We’ll consider your current tariff when designing and configuring the system, without promising a fixed financial outcome.
